Open letter from Third Promise June 12, 2004
DUNN, NC(Press Release) - Dear Friends,
Upon learning we had finally been blessed with our first Top 80 song, the feeling was bittersweet. The feeling was sweet because this achievement had been a dream for the past four years, since officially organizing as a group; however, it was bitter because the third portion of Third Promise was not personally with us to celebrate.
Words cannot convey the gamut of emotions we have experienced since the tragic accident on May 7 which claimed Carla Jackson's life; however, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness from so many people across the country. We are so grateful for the thoughts, prayers and wonderful expressions of love and kindness.
We also extend a special thanks to all those who are helping to keep our music alive. The unchanging message of hope through Christ lives on.
We realize we have a long road ahead, but God is continuing to bless each day, and we continue to covet your prayers.
Now more than ever we are not only grateful for all He has done, but more importantly, WHAT HE WOULD NOT DO!
May God Bless You, Christa Honeycutt & Ren Hill Third Promise
Jay Parrack leaving Gold City June 1, 2004
(Press Release) - Gold City announced today that award-winning tenor Jay Parrack will soon end his ten-year run as tenor singer for the legendary Gold City Quartet. According to group owner and bass singer Tim Riley, Parrack's decision is based solely on his desire to spend more time with his family.
According to Riley, Parrack's decision is understandable. "There's nothing more important than family," states Riley. "Jay has given this group ten great years. He's worked incredibly hard and has done a wonderful job. I fully support his decision to spend more time at home with his wife and two children. We wish him all the best, and we look forward to what God has in store for Gold City."
Parrack will continue to sing with the group until a replacement is found. Gold City is currently taking applications, and has set up a special email address to field potential candidates: auditions@goldcityqt.com.
Gold City requests that ALL correspondence regarding the position be directed to this email address, and that applicants not phone the office directly. Details surrounding auditions will be posted soon.
CrabbFest to include new seminar June 1, 2004
The Crabb Family's Kentucky CrabbFest will include a brand new seminar this year on Saturday, July 10. The seminar is for groups and soloists with unanswered questions - and anyone who has a desire to sing.
Many people have the ability to sing and feel the call to sing, but are uncertain of the steps to take. At this seminar, panel members Kathy Crabb of the Crabb Family, Norman Holland, Crystal Burchette, Ed Leonard, Susan Puckett (of Day Wind Music Group), Beckie Simmons (of BSA) and Brian Hudson (of Showcase Media) will share information and answer questions pertaining to music ministry. Everything will be covered from recording, to booking, to publicity, to personal ministry. This team of industry members will share stories of what they have witnessed through their years in Gospel Music. They will talk of successes as well as mistakes, encouragement for getting through the tough times, tips for moving forward in the good times, and many inspiring keys to unlocking the door of a musical career. Kathy Crabb will share many stories never before told about the Crabb Family's humble beginnings and the secrets to their success.
Sessions will be held at 10:00am and 2:00pm at the Executive Inn. As Kathy prepares for the New Artist Seminar, her husband Gerald Crabb is making plans for the Songwriter's Daycamp. Gerald Crabb, award-winning songwriter Aaron Wilburn, and 2004 Dove Award-winning songwriter Sue Smith will discuss perfecting lyric, melody, publishing, promotion, and all of the "ins and outs" of songwriting. The Songwriter's Seminar will be held on Saturday, July 10, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Executive Inn with lunch provided.
